Position Overview:
Good Tree Academy, located in Plano, is searching for a committed and energetic Religious studies & Tarbiyah Director to spearhead our mission of cultivating a holistic educational atmosphere where Islamic values permeate every facet of student life. This role holds significant importance in molding our students' moral and spiritual growth, ensuring they possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and integrity to thrive as model Muslim leaders who excel academically, socially, and spiritually. The Religious Studies & Tarbiyah Director will lead the creation and delivery of a curriculum that not only captivates students but also nurtures their ability to think critically, solve problems, and embrace lifelong learning.
Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with faculty and administration to integrate Islamic teachings into the curriculum across all subjects and grade levels, ensuring alignment with academic standards and educational goals. Integrate a holistic approach to instructional education with exposure and experience into the learning process.
2. Character Education: Design and implement programs that promote the development of moral character, ethics, and values consistent with Islamic principles, including leadership development, empathy, and community service.
3. Islamic Studies Program: Oversee the design and delivery of a comprehensive Islamic studies curriculum that covers Quranic studies, Islamic history, theology, and jurisprudence, tailored to the needs and abilities of students at different grade levels. Deliver the program to high school students.
4. Staff Training and Development: Provide guidance and professional development opportunities for teachers and staff to enhance their understanding of Islamic teachings and pedagogical strategies for integrating Tarbiyah principles into instruction and student interactions.
5. Student Support: Offer mentorship, counseling, and support services to students to address their spiritual, emotional, and social needs, fostering a nurturing and inclusive school environment where every student feels valued and supported.
6. Community Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with parents, community leaders, and local organizations to promote collaboration and support for the school's mission and values, organizing events, workshops, and seminars to engage stakeholders in discussions on Tarbiyah-related topics.
7. Evaluation and Assessment: Develop and implement mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of Tarbiyah initiatives and programs, gathering feedback from stakeholders and using data to inform continuous improvement efforts.
8. Standards & Compliance : Establish standards & ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines governing religious education in private schools, maintaining accurate records and documentation as required.
Qualifications:
- Alimiyyah or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Islamic studies from a reputable seminary
- Strong knowledge of Islamic teachings and principles, with a deep understanding of contemporary issues and challenges facing Muslim youth.
- Experience in planning, designing, and implementing comprehensive curriculum frameworks that include scope and sequence, learning objectives, assessment methods, and instructional materials.
- Previous experience in educational leadership, development, or youth development, preferably in an Islamic school or similar setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students, staff, and parents.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive school culture.
- Proficiency in Arabic and/or other relevant languages preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
