Warehouse/Material Handler/Forklift Operator
Loads, unloads and moves materials within or near plant, yard or worksite, and accurately documents these activities as required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Reads work orders or follows verbal instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Loads and unloads product onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves and drums by hand as necessary.
- Loads materials into trailers and installs bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
- Enters receiving and movement information into the SOI business management system (WMS) according to current standard operating procedures.
- Transfers materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.
- Attaches identifying tags or labels to incoming materials on cases, drums or other containers.
- Records product movement and acknowledges receipt of shipments. Reports overages, shortages or shelf life issues to supervisor.
- Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power industrial handling equipment, and cleans work areas, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators as required.
- Performs monthly warehouse inventory as required.
- Other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications Include:
Education: High school degree or GED required.
- Experience: At least 1 year of forklift experience. At least 1 year of warehouse experience. Basic mathematic skills required.
- Language/Communication: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and possess general email writing and online research skills.
· Must be able to work in a physical environment (walking, bending, stooping, twisting, standing, up/down stairs) for long periods of time; able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Frequently exposed to wet, cold, hot or humid conditions/temperatures associated with a manufacturing environment, moving mechanical parts, forklifts, and citrus fumes.
