Worthington Christian Village is a great place to work offering a total ministry to the senior adults of Central Ohio .Our Assisted Living and Healthcare Center department is currently looking for a full time day shift person to join our team.
This position is designed to assist the Director Nursing with the duties for the Health Care Center and to help meet the needs of each resident.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent and STNA certification is preferred.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of general office procedures.
- Computer knowledge or ability to learn is a must.
- Must function independently and have the ability to work effectively with other personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, staff scheduling, and nursing practices in a healthcare setting is helpful.
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Director of Nursing or their designee
ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and visitors, greeting them warmly, providing answers to basic questions including directing visitors to resident’s rooms, office areas, etc.
- Answer the telephone promptly and direct calls to appropriate personnel or answer questions as needed.
- Maintain an up-to-date roster of residents for the unit.
- Maintain a current listing of staff phone numbers.
- Orders and maintains office supplies for the unit.
- Responsible for seeing that each resident’s name is posted on the door of their room. Label eye glasses and other personal items for residents as needed.
- Files, copies and provides other clerical assistance as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
NURSING CARE FUNCTIONS
- Sort meal menus for STNA’s by assignment.
- Monitors residents in the lounge area around the nurse’s station and intervenes as needed to prevent residents from falls and /or injury.
- Keep nursing personnel informed of resident’s beauty shop appointments.
- Transport residents as needed, including to and from the beauty shop.
- Assist with meal service as needed.
- Provide activities documentation as needed.
PERSONNEL FUNCTIONS
- Makes calls to staff to fill any and all holes in the schedule. Performs this function independently as directed by the DON.
- Assigns staffing schedules based on the master schedule provided by DON, including any/all related documentation, including highlight appointments for STNA staff.
- Takes call offs from employees and makes calls for replacements. Completes appropriate paperwork associated with call offs and staff replacements including marking the master schedule as appropriate.
- Schedules and cancels agency staff members and completes paper work associated.
- Assists charge nurses with assignments, including adjusting any assignments as needed throughout the day.
- Handles questions and concerns, answering when able or directing questions to appropriate personnel.
- Assist DON with payroll as needed, in-service completion, and new hire department orientation.
SAFETY AND SANITATION
- Follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
- Report any malfunctions in equipment to WCV maintenance staff, including observations of items around the Health Care Center.
- Maintain a neat and tidy reception desk, free of clutter and providing a professional look.
- Participates in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in a safe and professional manner.
- Monitor biohazard trash, boxing as necessary and contacting biohazard waste removal company as needed for pick up.
- Follow established infection control procedures.
- Report hazardous conditions or equipment to the Charge Nurse and/or Maintenance.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
- Attends mandatory in-services as scheduled and others called by the DON.
