Part-Time Humanities Teacher (5th-10th grade)
Summary: Our part-time Humanities teacher has responsibility for up to five periods of classes containing up to 16 students each. The teacher is responsible for Literature and Bible instruction two to three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday), for creating lesson plans and assignments based on blueprints, and for posting assignments to the school's online portal for co-teachers (i.e., parents) to access. Candidates should be capable of, and interested in, teaching students in the following open classes: 5th grade Literature, 8th grade Bible, and the integrated 10th grade Humanities course that blends Literature, Theology, and History. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for educating students through great stories by always pointing them back to the "Great Story" of Christ's redemption. Previous Literature teaching experience is preferred (especially experience with our curriculum of choice in the Upper School, Omnibus from Veritas Press.) Curriculum and materials will be provided.
Position type: Part-time. Two to three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) 7:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., plus additional preparation time as needed. Some training and in-service days are also required.
Start date: Classes begin August 26. Training for incoming teachers will take place August 5-9.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree; agreement with and support of the school's statement of faith; strong commitment to Christian education and the Classical Model of education.
Additional desirable qualifications: Teaching experience at a classical school, teaching certification, and/or advanced degree.
