Job Summary:
As the Lead Dental Assistant at Dental Esthetics Studio, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and smooth operations of our dental office. In addition to chair-side assisting and dental infection control procedures, you will take on leadership responsibilities, overseeing other assistants, providing guidance, maintaining inventory, and optimizing lab costs for the practice.
Schedule:
Tues-Friday ( 2 alternating Saturdays / month)
- Weekend availability ( 2 Saturdays / month)

Experience:
- Implants, Veneers, crown preparation, mouth guards, Spark Invisalign, impressions, model taking, designing and milling in-house crowns and bridges, 3D printing models, splints/night guards.
- Endodontic Assisting, General Dentistry Assisting, Oral Surgery Assisting, and Prosthodontics Assisting.
- Communicating Treatment plans to patients.
- Monitoring and managing supplies to maintain a well-equipped dental office.
- Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide is a plus.

Job Duties:
Chair-side Assisting:
- Assist all providers in dental treatment, ensuring seamless procedures while setting an example for the rest of the team.
- Oversee the placement and removal of rubber dams, matrix bands, and wedges.
- Apply topical anesthetic and handle etching and polishing of enamel.
- Manage the removal of visible excess cement from dental restorations.
- Polish enamel and restorations on the anatomical crown.
- Cement temporary crowns and remove sutures (excluding wire sutures).
- Wield the suction hose during procedures.
- Prepare patients and the work area, set up instruments, equipment, and materials.
- Execute instrument transfer and dental procedure isolation techniques.
- Prepare dental materials, cements, amalgam, composite, and impression materials.
- Assist dental hygienists with procedures when necessary.
- Take dental x-rays and care for dental x-ray equipment.
- Manage the schedule and rearrange assistants assigned appointments when necessary
- Make patient needs a priority and make decisions based on what is most beneficial to the patient
Lead Assistant Responsibilities:
- Hold training sessions with assistants to aid them improve their skills
- Organization: Take responsibility for the organization and coordination of daily tasks within the dental office, ensuring smooth operations.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and functionality of dental equipment, coordinating repairs or replacements as needed.
- Infection Control: Enforce and uphold rigorous infection control protocols, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for both patients and staff.
- Hold meetings with other leads to collaborate and discuss on changes to improve workflow
- Maintain clear and effective communication with practice management, reporting any issues, concerns, or suggestions for improvement.
- Ensure open communication with management in the event of issues arising with another assistant, whether it involves conflicts between coworkers or concerns related to performance.
- Motivating assistants to achieve high performance standards and ensuring they are meeting expectations.
- Foster collaboration within the dental team, encouraging a positive and supportive work culture.
- Coordinate patient care activities, including appointment scheduling, follow-ups, and ensuring a seamless patient experience.
- Stay informed about industry developments, new technologies, and advancements in dental procedures, continuously improving personal and team knowledge.
- Address conflicts or issues within the dental team, facilitating resolution and maintaining a harmonious work environment.
- Ensure strict adherence to practice policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, promoting compliance among team members.
- Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current in the field and enhance leadership skills.
- Strive for efficiency and productivity in daily operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing streamlined processes.
- Inventory Management: Take responsibility for overseeing and managing dental inventory, ensuring adequate supplies are maintained, and coordinating the ordering of materials when necessary. Efficient inventory control contributes to the smooth functioning of daily operations while controlling overhead to the advised budget.
Dental Infection Control Procedures:
- Manage the dental office infection control plan to meet OSHA, CDC, and ADA standards.
- Oversee daily running of lines, biweekly trap changes, and daily removal of infectious materials.
- Submit weekly spore tests.
- Ensure proper instrument cleaning, sterilization/disinfection, and re-circulation.
- Dental Laboratory Procedures:
- Oversee pouring impressions for stone and plaster models.
- Supervise model trimming and fabrication of temporary crowns, bridges, and other appliances.
- Manage the designing and milling of permanent crowns and bridges in-office.
- Oversee the designing and fabricating of 3D-printed night guards and retainers.
- Handle shipment and receiving of incoming and outgoing lab cases.
- Patient and Community Education:
- Promptly escort patients for dental procedures, confirming the nature of their appointment.
- Review patient medical history and consent forms.
- Deliver patient oral care instructions and verify future appointment details.
- Communicate post-op instructions with patients and the front office for a smooth transfer of care.
- Maintain thorough and timely records of dental treatments.
- Front Office Duties:
- Schedule appointments.
- Answer phone calls and emails from patients.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assisting program is preferred.
- X-ray certification in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant is advantageous.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures.
- EFDA (expanded duties) certification is a plus.
Expanded Duties for Certified Dental Assistants (in addition to above duties):
- Apply desensitizing agents, liners, and varnishes.
- Intraoral fabrication of temporary crowns and bridges.
- Perform face bow transfer.
- Monitor nitrous oxide/oxygen administration.
- Apply topical anticariogenic agents, pit and fissure sealants.
- Take and record vital signs.
- Size and fit stainless steel crowns on primary teeth.
- Conduct digital scans for fabricating orthodontic appliances and models.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 45 per week
