We're thrilled to expand our team in 2024! AKIKOS is currently looking for a full-time and part-time Sushi Chef to join us. As a seafood-centric and product-driven restaurant, we have strong partnerships with local purveyors as well as Tokyo's Toyosu Fish Market. We are proud to be the first Omakase restaurant in SF, providing a unique yet familiar Japanese dining experience. Our approach is always evolving, finding a balance between creativity, nostalgia, and an element of surprise.
Located at The Avery, beneath the luxury residential high rise developed by Related California, this is an exciting time to join our growing team. We have received accolades from prestigious sources such as the Michelin Guide, SF Chronicle, Eater SF, and Food and Wine (to name a few). We are seeking an ideal candidate who is punctual, a team player, and deeply passionate about the industry and their craft.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with seafood prep and butchery
- Ensuring proper station organization
- Adapting and learning evolving recipes and procedures
- Executing high-quality composed dishes
- Engaging with guests during service
- Collaborating with the team to sanitize and deep-clean after service
- Maintaining food safety and sanitation in compliance with Department of Health standards
Experience and qualifications:
- Minimum 1-5 years of experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, managing multiple tickets simultaneously
- Strong sushi experience and excellent knife skills are highly preferred
- Effective communication skills, working well with both back-of-house and front-of-house team members
- Strong work ethic, demonstrating professionalism during prep and service
- Fluency in English, with knowledge of Japanese as a plus
- U.S. Citizenship or valid Working Permit required
