Job Summary:
- High school diploma or equivalent and completed welding school and have worked in a professional welding capacity for a minimum of 1 year.
- MIG welding is the most important welding process used at this facility therefore knowledge of setting up the machine for different material thicknesses is a must.
- Ability to demonstrate good looking welds with proper penetration on material ranging from 14 gauge up to ½ inch and above.
- Ability to read at least simple blueprints without assistance.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools used within the welding industry, including but not limited to hand plasma cutter, oxy-acetylene torch, magnetic drills, and drill presses, 4” and 7” grinder.
- Basic understanding of how and when to use fabrication tools such as tape measure (both SAE and metric), combination square, torpedo level, 4-foot level, and protractor.
- Be physically capable of lifting at least 50 pounds and standing 8 hours a day.
- Have a good attitude both in their work and in their interactions with other employees. Fabrication is a field where you must learn by doing so, he/she needs to be able to adapt to different techniques and deal with project setbacks in a professional manner. Being an active problem solver and having a willingness to try new things without fear is a plus.
- Willingness to learn and to take direction from more experienced fabricators is very important, we are a small company so teamwork and an ability to take constructive criticism for your own advancement is a must.
- Dependability and punctuality are a must.
- Understanding of the welding environment i.e., heat, cold, and physical demands of the job (dealing with weld smoke/fumes)
Plus's:
- Ability to visualize project construction when reading from blueprints, understand which parts of a job should be done first to build the job quickly and efficiently.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience a plus.
- TIG Welding ability
