Patient Accounts Representative I
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Entry Level-Patient Accounts Representative will offer friendly, courteous and confidential assistance to every patient, to ensure that each patient has a positive experience with ECAA/ECPC. This positions focus will be to obtain detailed and accurate patient information to facilitate an efficient patient encounter. The Patient Accounts Representative is responsible for inputting patients’ registration information into the system, while also collecting necessary insurance and demographic information, to finalize medical record identification and billings. The ideal candidate will require exceptional computer skills and is an effective multi-tasker, handling many different tasks on a daily basis, and able to work and communicate well with others in a team environment. Responsibilities and Duties:
● Utilize facility electronic system to record patient personal, demographic and insurance information
● Maintain and accurately verify patient insurance
● Assign diagnostic and procedure codes to charge vouchers for system input
● Answer phones and provide routine information to callers, while following HIPAA guidelines
● Accurately inform patients of cost of care being provided and guide them to appropriate resources for further information, guidance and assistance
● Collect time of service payments (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, etc.) and issue receipts via web-based electronic application
● Must be comfortable collecting money and processing credit card payments
● Document interaction with patients regarding payments/insurance
● Record daily credit card transactions
● Record daily cash payments/deposits
● Learning about the medical process and using a team approach in patient supervision and documentation
● Comfortable with medical terminology
● Communicating with patients and supervising Physicians professionally
● Completing all administrative tasks efficiently
● Must be open to constructive feedback on job performance
● Other duties as assigned and requested by Office Manager and Senior Patient Account Representative
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 7:30-4 or 8-4:30.
Pay Range: $16-$19/Hourly
Required Education and Work Experience:
● High school diploma
● Preferred, 2 years college or prior medical insurance related experience (CPT and ICD-10 coding)
● Minimum of 3-years medical office billing/coding and insurance experience
- Previous anesthesia experience is preferred
● Ability to expertly document patient personal, demographic and insurance information
● Exceptional computer skills
● Experience with data entry and managed care is highly desirable
● Confidentiality and privacy of the patients (HIPPA)
● Strong organization, multitasking and time management skills
● Ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and detail-oriented
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
● Knowledge of medical terminology
● Able to lift up to 25-50 lbs when moving and handling necessary equipment
● Must be self-motivated, take initiative and able to complete daily tasks with minimal supervision

● Work performed in office environment
● Involves frequent contact with patients, physicians, and medical office staff
● Work may be stressful at times
● Interaction with others is frequent and often disruptive
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
