Current vacancy: One full-time (8hrs) position for our Operations Department (6:00am-2:30pm)
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under general supervision, perform a variety of custodial, materials handling, and minor maintenance work; pick up and deliver a variety of furniture and equipment, and other items to various District locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
Sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Driver's License and be insurable by the District's carrier.

JOB DUTIES:

Receive work orders and drive a District vehicle to various school and District locations; move and arrange light and heavy furniture and equipment according to staff requests and work orders. E

Perform heavy physical labor to remove and replace freezers, cabinets, fence iron, water heaters, playground equipment, and other heavy objects; adhere to safe lifting procedures. E

Perform a variety of custodial activities; sweep, mop, strip, and wax floors; vacuum rugs and carpets; dust, wash, and polish furniture and woodwork; clean restroom, classrooms, and meeting rooms; empty and clean waste receptacles. E

Pick up paper, leaves and other debris from school grounds, walk areas, and the areas adjacent to the school and District facilities. E

Operate and utilize a variety of equipment to move heavy objects, such as trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, and others; operate jackhammers, hand and power tools, and various custodial and cleaning equipment. E

Assist maintenance staff and perform minor maintenance work as assigned; pick up and deliver materials and supplies for maintenance projects.

Replace asphalt and concrete as assigned.

Deliver paychecks as assigned.

Perform related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION:

Direct supervision is received from the Manager of Faculties and Grounds Operations. Technical and functional supervising may be received from assigned Maintenance Department personnel.

No supervision is exercised.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor and outdoor environment; regular exposure to fumes, dust and odors; driving a vehicle to conduct; exposure to adverse weather conditions.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and moving heavy furniture and equipment; climb stairs and ramps; walking or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hand and fingers to operate equipment; bending at the waist; reaching overhead and horizontally; kneeling or crouching.
HAZARDS:
Contact with cleaning agents and chemicals.

EXAMINATION PROTESTS:
Protest of any part of the examination process must be in writing and received in the office of the Director of Classified Personnel no later than five (5) working days from the date you were notified of examination results. All notifications are sent electronically via email. Any protest must include rationale to support the protest and must be based on illegal discrimination, abuse of discretion, or procedure/process error. ESTABLISHMENT OF ELIGIBILITY LIST:
This examination process shall be open to all qualified applicants and shall result in one integrated eligibility list. All eligibility lists shall be established in accordance with Personnel Commission rules and shall be established for a period one (1) year, unless otherwise noted, or until there are fewer than three (3) ranks of eligible candidates who are available. Candidates are placed on the eligibility list in rank order according to their final examination score. Final examination scores will not change, but ranking may change as other candidates are added or removed from the list.
ADVANCED STEP PLACEMENT:
Generally, new employees start at the first step on the appointed salary schedule. When filling a permanent vacancy, a new employee may request a higher salary placement based on having training and experience that greatly exceeds the minimum qualifications. An employee may submit a formal request for advanced step consideration on or after the first day of employment. Education transcripts, training certificates, and additional references may be requested for verification purposes.
