Job Title: Payroll Assistant
FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Reports to: Payroll Supervisor / HR Manager
Location: Delano, CA
General Summary
The Payroll Assitant is responsible for various taks in the payroll process as well as a variety of routine clerical tasks in support of the Payroll Office. This position involves considerable contact with employees, administrators, managers, and supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls and direct calls to appropriate parties.
- Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence.
- Accurately and timely process payroll according to the established payroll schedule. Review timesheets for accuracy, answer questions and resolve issues.
- Verify attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments, and post information into designated records.
- Compile employee time, production, and payroll data from time sheets and other records.
- Register and enter new hires into the system and process employment verification documents.
- Respond to employee inquiries and assist employees with document requests such as earnings reports, job verifications, and leaves of absence, etc.
- Contact supervisors and managers to determine employee eligibility to return to work.
- Responsible for all Company files and filing.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to analyze and pay close attention to detail.
- Must have excellent communication skills; oral and written, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and must be able to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently, work well with others, and take initiative.
- Must uphold the highest standards with respect to confidentiality.
- Excellent data entry skills.
- Skill in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Proficient in 10-key and all Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- 1 to 2 years of payroll experience
Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects.
- Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision.
- Must be able to bend and occasionally lift up to 25lbs.
Work Environment
Must be able to work in an office environment. Work environment includes typical computer and paper related noises. Will rarely be exposed to environmental conditions.
Hours and Workdays
8:00AM-5:00PM; Monday- Friday; Some Saturday work may be required depending on season
