SECOND SHIFT OPENING
SUMMARY: To lead maintenance personnel who install, maintain, and repair machine tools, mechanical equipment, and electronic apparatus. Develops maintenance policies and programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Hires, trains, evaluates, and disciplines employees and assists maintenance coordinator planning the daily work using the work order systems for the maintenance department
· Develops and maintains positive and productive communications between intra-company departments (Production, QA, Shipping & Receiving, and Office) and with vendors and contractors
· Supports all elements of the Quality Management System including maintenance of quality critical instrumentation and SOP’s for setting up operating processes.
· Supports all elements of EH&S, including but not limited to LOTO, safety procedures and policies and initiatives
· Operates equipment for the purpose of trouble shooting problems, testing performance of equipment, training operators, and certifying operators
· Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair parts
· Develops parts list, initiates purchase orders for parts and machinery and may supervise the parts inventory function. Communicates with maintenance coordinator for administrative support. Hires independent contractors to work on maintenance related projects
· Assists in the repair and rebuilding of equipment, adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
· May develop, implement, and provide recommendations for programs such as work order system, preventative maintenance program, parts inventory, and training programs
· Monitors training programs to see that personnel are properly trained and receive new training as needed. Evaluates the training needs so that they are executed properly and effectively
· Reviews log-books to ascertain that the preventive maintenance program is current, operating problems are documented and warranty records are kept
· Understands plant labeling requirements and sees that all chemicals are properly labeled and managed
· Research and recommend modifications to update equipment
· Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Leads 10-15 maintenance personnel. May also supervise the work of independent contractors
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 2 Year certificate from college or technical school; or 3-6 years related experience
· Minimum 1-year supervisory experience
· Ability to read, write, and speak English so that individual can document programs, document problems, communicate with managers, subordinates, and hourly employees
· Ability to read technical manuals and parts catalogue
· Ability to perform basic math, read blueprints, and schematics
· Ability to take and work with measurements
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Employee will work with tools and instruments such as drill press, simple hand tools, micrometers, ohm/volt meters, welding equipment, drafting equipment and personal computers
- Frequent standing, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawl, and walking
- Employee must be able to work in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods of time
- Employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Employee may be exposed to various chemicals and weather elements
- Employee must be able to wear a respirator and/or other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary to reduce exposure
- Employee must be able to work in heat and cold
