Join our team at Youth Shelters and Family Services as a dedicated Philanthropy Associate, where you'll play a crucial role in our mission to empower youth and families.
Your responsibilities will include preparing compelling proposals and grant applications, crafting engaging content for our quarterly community newsletter and social media platforms, and identifying and responding to grant opportunities. Additionally, you'll be actively involved in event planning and outreach efforts, connecting with supporters and funders to strengthen our community ties.

What would my job responsibilities be?
- Prepare and submit grant proposals within deadlines, in accordance with grantor requirements, organizing and coordinating information needed to respond to opportunity fully and effectively.
- Take lead role in preparing grant reports based on grantor requirements. Assist various department staff in writing or providing information necessary to prepare periodic reports to comply with grant requirements.
- Participate in fundraising events in the community either hosted by YSFS or as a YSFS representative. Seasonal events will occur at YSFS such as our annual gala and holiday gift drives.
- Provide administrative support to the direct care programs, as needed, specifically with regard to data collection, evaluation and reporting for agency grants and contracts.
- Participate in preparation of quarterly external newsletter and organize distribution to grantors, donors, and prospective donors.
- Participate in preparation of monthly internal newsletters.
- Participate in preparing content for organization’s social media platforms coordinating content and visuals with program staff.
- Assist with maintaining an up-to-date website with job postings, fact sheets, and/or program information.
- Research and identify new government, corporate, foundations, and private funding prospects.
- Possess broad knowledge of organizational structure, functions and needs.
- Keep a well-organized portfolio of grant proposals and regularly update schedule of grant proposal and grant reporting deadlines.
- Keep a well-organized portfolio of monetary donations received in person, via mail, or online.
- Customarily and regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment, assume responsibility and work under minimum supervision.
- Assist with community outreach by reaching out to companies and persons throughout Santa Fe that may be interested in partnering, donating, or hosting events to bring more awareness to our mission.
- Provide individualized follow up for new donors and add personalization to thank you letters. Be in contact with Executive Administrative Assistant to review donations.
What are the qualifications and experience I need to become a Philanthropy Associate?
- Related experience in social media, public relations, grant writing, and contract administration (preferred).
- Previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities, comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.
- Understanding and knowledge of government and non-profit youth sector (preferred).
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, data entry skills, organizational and computer software skills including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, various data entry software and databases, and ability to learn new systems introduced by grantors.
- Strong non-profit organization and planning skills. Ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
What are the minimum education requirements?
- Bachelor's degree in communications, English, humanities, sociology, anthropology, psychology
- OR accounting or similar degree (preferred)
- OR associate degree and one year of experience
- OR High school diploma and two years of experience
What are the scheduled shift you are looking to fill?
- Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM.
