The Career Advisor at PA CareerLink® position plays a crucial role in assisting individuals in identifying and pursuing fulfilling career opportunities. This position works closely with job seekers, providing personalized guidance, resources, and support to help them navigate the job market successfully.
This is a grant funded position and continuation of this assignment, compensation, and benefits are subject to grant terms and availability of funds.
The Career Advisor at PA CareerLink® has internal contacts college-wide and external contact with visitors, and the general community. This position has access to sensitive personal and financial information and is expected to handle such information confidentially and with integrity and professionalism. This position is expected to represent Delaware County Community College in a professional manner and promote a customer service approach. The Career Advisor at PA CareerLink® reports to the PA CareerLink® WIOA Program Manager and participates in Center and college-wide events, meetings, and activities, as necessary.
- Intake Coordination: Conduct thorough intake interviews with new customers to understand their employment background, career goals, skills, and immediate needs. Provide personalized pre-enrollment career advising and orientation to PA CareerLink® services, resources, and programs, ensuring customers are aware of available options.

Resource Referral: Assess customers' needs and determine appropriate referrals to internal and external partners, service providers, or community resources to address their specific goals and challenges.

Connect job seekers with additional support services, such as vocational training, educational opportunities, or community resources, to address any barriers to employment.

Enrollment Management: Review program eligibility criteria and requirements for customers seeking enrollment in PA CareerLink® programs, workshops, or training opportunities. Verify customers' qualifications based on program guidelines, ensuring they meet necessary criteria for participation.

Collect and review required documentation from customers, such as identification, proof of residency, income verification, or other supporting materials, to complete enrollment processes accurately.

Career Advising: Provide one-on-one career guidance sessions to individuals seeking employment assistance. Assess their skills, interests, and career goals to develop personalized action plans. Manage a caseload of 50 new job seekers per year plus 50 participants in 12 months follow-up.

Work Readiness Activities: Coordinate and manage work readiness activities, including workshops, skills training sessions, job search assistance, resume building, interview preparation, and soft skills development.

Labor Market Analysis: Utilize comprehensive knowledge of the local labor market to provide tailored guidance and strategic advice to clients. Stay updated on current trends, job demands, emerging industries, and growth sectors within the region.

Skill Assessment and Development: Facilitate CASAS Assessments to identify skill gaps and recommend relevant training programs, workshops, or certifications to enhance individuals' employability and competitiveness in the job market.

Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, services provided, and outcomes achieved using the Commonwealth Workforce Development System.

Participate in interactive, on-site meetings during normal business hours and on a regular basis; regular on-site PA CareerLink® office hours.

The successful candidate must be an engaging, effective, innovative, dynamic professional who fosters collaboration. This individual will be able to demonstrate the use of best practice strategies associated with Career Counseling or Workforce Development. This individual will demonstrate a spirit of an independent problem-solver and a strong understanding of the College’s and PA CareerLink® mission and goals. The Career Advisor will interact with a wide cross section of the College community and outside stakeholders with professionalism and empathy. The Career Advisor will also have a demonstrated ability to encourage, model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thought and perspective of all individuals of various backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives to foster an all-inclusive environment and drive retention and completion results
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 1+ years of related experience working in a career counseling, workforce development, or a related field role in a professional setting; prior experience working in a career center, school or community college environment is preferred. High School diploma or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education, technical training, and related experience is required. Associate degree preferred.
