JOB SUMMARY
Introduces new products and follows through on developmental engineering from concept to full production.
Develop/improve or create new designs for automotive stamping business needs by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
・Works with the Engineering Manager to direct tooling and modify equipment and/or machines of varying types(some of a very complex nature) for use in the manufacture of company products.
・Re-designs, repairs, or replaces in-process production program equipment.
・Assists Engineering Manager to develop processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new programs;supervises their assembly and set-up.
・Sets up new equipment for die trials, ensures its satisfactory operation, and instructs others to use the new equipment properly.
・Assists in writing procedures for the operation of new or existing equipment.
・Conducts experiments and tests on existing designs and equipment to obtain data on function of and performanceof equipment.
・Reviews plans for new products and factors such as strength, weight, and cost to submit material selection recommendations ensuring attainment of design objectives.
・Conducts a continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance and improve the product line.
・Determines and reviews all manufacturing processes for cost effectiveness and feasibility, both before and after engineering releases to manufacturing.
・Determines priorities with the Engineering Manager and implements cost-reduction projects; maintains detailed documentation as required.
・With the help of the Engineering Manager (Die Maintenance), works on the construction of all in –house tooling; assures accuracy and timeliness of all projects.
・Conducts plant layouts, coordinates outside contractors, and supervises all necessary construction of plant expansions or alterations.
・Knowledgeable concerning mechanical principles, machining practices, the properties of metals, concerning modern fabrication and assembly techniques, machine-shop practices and the application of mathematics and dimensions to production machinery and tooling.
・Able to mentally visualize and comprehend all aspects of a manufacturing equipment or tooling problem,understand the interrelationships of factors affecting a given situation, and be attentive to detail.
・Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve production problems in a timely manner.
・Monitors projects and ensures that timetables are met.
・Advises management of delays, problems, or changes.
・Analyzes equipment used and plant layout to determine if facilities are being used to best advantages.
