Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated, part-time Training Director to head the Educational function of the Independent Electrical Contractors Association (IEC) and its related apprenticeship and Professional Development offerings. This critical role is suited for an expert with a thorough understanding of the electrical industry, particularly within educational settings. The successful candidate will be tasked with developing a cutting-edge curriculum, managing program finances, and enhancing the training capabilities of instructors. This is a part-time, flexible position that will require approximately 20 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum and Lab Development: Develop and refine curriculum to align with IEC standards. Design and implement hands-on activities, including over 20 labs for Year 1, decreasing incrementally through Year 4.
- Classroom Management and Material Sourcing: Work with vendors to price and procure materials for four classrooms. Manage inventory and create build-out plans for each classroom as necessary.
- Assessment Integration and Instructional Design: Integrate lab results into the grading system and adjust course materials to enhance practical learning. Collaborate with instructors to incorporate labs into classes effectively.
- Examination and Quiz Creation: Design and administer weekly quizzes, midterms, and final exams to assess student comprehension and skills.
- Grant Management and Application: Actively search for grant opportunities and manage applications to secure funding for program enhancements.
- Instructor Development and Standardization: Work closely with instructors to improve teaching methods and standardize educational programs across the region. Develop and coordinate continuing education courses, ensuring alignment with IEC certifications.
- Online Learning and Technology Integration: Develop strategies to improve online program offerings, including the use of mobile labs, simulators, and educational videos.
- Student Success Measurement: Develop and implement a method to measure student success and the effectiveness of the program that is distinct from traditional grading systems. This method should provide tangible evidence of program impact, focusing on practical competencies and industry readiness.
- Leadership and Strategic Planning: Serve on the IEC National committee, particularly targeting the A&T Committee, to influence broader educational strategies. Develop and implement systems to measure and enhance program effectiveness continually.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly reports for the Executive Director. Prepare overview report for the Apprenticeship and Training Committee meetings, 4-6 times per year.
Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Industrial Electronics (or similar), or completion of a Formal Apprenticeship in electrical trades. Master Electrician status preferred.
Valid Electrician license, minimum Journeyman, with extensive experience across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
Valid drivers license.
Demonstrated leadership in managing educational programs in a technical or vocational setting.
Strong experience with curriculum development, especially in creating hands-on, practical lab activities.
Proficiency in Learning Management Systems and Classroom Management Systems. Ability to train others in their usage.
Proficiency in budget management and experience in grant writing and administration.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office, online meeting platforms like Zoom, and Learning Management Systems.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to travel as needed.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
