SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant II will provide a higher level of care supporting a clinical team in a community health setting, having demonstrated excellence in Medical Assistant III skills and responsibilities. Under the direct supervision of the Medical Assistant I and the Health Center Manager, the MA II provides health and wellness education;MA II will be adept at venipuncture and draw blood from adult and pediatric patients; and MA II will be cross trained and provide services at three departments.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports and implements the organizations vision, mission, and values.

Provides health and wellness education to applicable patients, including hypertension and diabetes.

Performs venipuncture in any department with proper technique to ensure smooth draws from adult and pediatric patients and safety of self and others.

Is cross-trained in three different departments and works willingly and enthusiastically to meet patient needs.

Performs all job functions in a professional, courteous and timely manner. This includes answering all phone calls, e-mails and providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers

Supports zero missed opportunities (unused appointments) and no show rate of 9% or lower.

Works at assigned site or a different site depending on the business needs of the organization and staffing in the spirit of teamwork.

Fosters and promotes a culture of service, excellence, self-accountability, and team work.
- Assists the Health Center Manager and MA I with audit preparation by performing quality assurance processes, including exam room inspections.
- Determines priorities and method of completing daily workload to ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely manner.
- Participates in continuous Quality Improvement plans for site and program.

Acts and communicates in a professional manner to reduce friction with patients, providers, and staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Completion of Medical Assistant program.
- Current Certification of Medical Assistant from the American Association of Medical Assistants, National Health Careers Association or American Medical Technologists.
- Venipuncture experience required.
- Competent and Proficient in MA-III Core Skills, including Mental Health First Aid and ideally two years of experience in an Ambulatory Care setting.

The noise level in the work environment is often low. However, there are many times when there is a high ambient background noise of phones and multiple conversations. Must be able to screen out the background noise to concentrate on the work at hand.
