The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America's #1 conservation service organization seeks qualified applicants to lead, educate, and inspire students for the programs.
Position title: DC Area Young Adult Conservation Crews
Program types: 6-week, 8-week, and 6-month
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
Pay: $17-$20/hourly depending on crew placement; Bi-weekly pay
Location (City and State): Washington, DC area
Transportation and Site Location: Members are required to either report to worksite or the designated metro station for crew pick-up. Members will be transported by SCA Field Leader throughout worksite.
Field-Based Project tasks may include:
- Trail maintenance
- Tree care
- Support invasive plant removal efforts
- Environmental education activities with youth and tabling at community events
Training may include:
- Project tool use and safety
- Basic first aid
- Field tool use
- Plant ID
- Trail building and maintenance skills
- Safety and risk management
Crew Member Qualifications:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must have the ability to legally work in the US
- Must be able to meet SCA's criminal background check standards
- Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements, and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more
- Experience with conservation work skills or related skills highly desired – i.e., trail maintenance, planting, etc.
