Medical Associates of Northern New Mexico is seeking Medical Assistants to perform clinical and administrative tasks under the direction of a physician. This is a great opportunity in the medical field with a supportive and caring team.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and prepare exam rooms prior to patient appointment in a timely manner
- Prep charts to assure that all information required for patient visit is available for the provider
- Continuously communicate with the provider concerns cancellations, reschedules, no-shows, and specific needs of patients on the schedule
- Verify patient information by interviewing the patient; accurately recording medical, family, and social history; confirming the purpose of visit; and asking the patient if they need any medication refills
- Perform preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, heart rate, weight, height, blood oxygen level and temperature. If needed, drape the patient with covering and position instruments and equipment as needed for the provider
- Provide appropriate forms for the provider in a timely manner
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
- Clean and sterilize instruments according to OSHA safety protocol
- Transmit prescription refills and/or administer vaccinations as directed by the provider
- Proficiently use eCW or the current medical record system; respond prompts and efficiently to telephone/web encounters and ePrescriptions
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following safety standards and procedures
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with EMR
- Knowledge of/Experience as a Medical Assistant (1 year)
- Attention to detail
- Time management
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to reliably commute to Los Alamos
