The Chappaqua Library is seeking a part-time youth services librarian to join our Children’s Services team, up to 17 hours per week. The Chappaqua Kids Room serves an enthusiastic library community, maintaining a robust programming schedule and an extensive book collection. We have flexibility in the schedule but would prefer someone available to work select weekday hours, 1-2 weekend days a month and occasional weeknights.
Responsibilities in the room include:
· provide reference and reader’s advisory services to children and adults
· maintain familiarity with juvenile materials for ages birth to 12
· plan and conduct storytimes and other programs for various ages
· plan and prepare programs and materials for Summer Reading
· select materials, including books, DVDs and digital materials
· create displays, bibliographies and book bundles
· provide outreach and support to local schools and groups
· seek out professional development and maintain relevant competencies to serve ages birth through 12
· contribute to social media and library communications (website, newsletters, etc)
· collaborate with other departments on programming and library-wide initiatives
· undertake other responsibilities as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
● Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
● NYS Public Librarian Certificate
The hourly salary is $32.21.
