The Agency You’ll Join
The NYC Mayor's Office administers all city services, public property, most public agencies, and
enforces all city, state, and federal laws within New York City. New York City’s Mayor, Eric Adams is
head of the executive branch of New York City's government. Mayor Adams has served the people of
New York City as an NYPD officer, State Senator, and Brooklyn Borough President. The Adams’

The Team You’ll Work With
The Commission on Gender Equity (CGE) is leading the City’s efforts to make sure every girl, woman,
intersex, transgender, and gender non-conforming and gender non-binary individual throughout the
five boroughs is treated equally and feels safe. We are putting the full force of the municipal
government, the city’s largest employer, to work on behalf of this cause. CGE works collaboratively
with City agencies on three focus areas: economic mobility and opportunity, health and reproductive
justice, and safety.
In 2022, the CGE joined the Mayor’s Office of Equity (MOE), established by Mayor Adams. MOE helps
foster a fairer, more equitable city through policy, practices, and programs across all City agencies and
systems. As the City’s first, centralized equity office, MOE is a central component of Mayor Adam’s
vision to build a stronger and healthier city that delivers for all New Yorkers.

Appointed by the Mayor, the Executive Director will lead and implement the strategic vision and
mission for the Commission on Gender Equity, as well as oversee all operations, functions, activities,
and lead staff. This position reports to the Commissioner for the Mayor’s Office of Equity.
