Position Overview:
Execute the duties and responsibilities as a member of the IT core group Design, integrate, and deploy Red Hat Linux IT solutions. Provide operational engineering support to enterprise-level solutions. Provision Linux systems and patches to the software and hardware hosting infrastructure. Update system and process documentation and user guides as needed diagrams and SOPs as needed. Required Qualifications Red Hat Linux Experience Linux system administration Knowledge or Training on Linux deployment, configuration, and maintenance. Experience working with customers to capture/document requirements. Desired Qualifications Linux engineer experience, namely on RedHat/RHEL. Experience working on incorporating hardware products into a government infrastructure. Linux integration with Active Directory experience, Strong scripting skills.
Job duties & Responsibilities:

System Administration:
-
Install, configure and manage Linux Operating systems
-
Responsible for monitoring all system alerts and helping to resolve complex issues in system hardware and software. Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning.

Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks utilizing OS Bash Scripting and Ansible.
-
Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
-
Communicate regularly with project team members, and representatives from various functional and / or technical teams, including escalating any matters that require additional attention and consideration from engagement management.
-
Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments.
-
Security:
-
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
-
Perform Hardening tasks to close security CVE vulnerabilities. Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations
-
Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions.

Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.

Respond to and mitigate security incidents

Experience with the cyber security accreditation process (RMF, ATO process, NIST 800-53 cyber security controls)

Troubleshooting:
-
Support for Critical incidents, Problems, and Major Changes. (SLAs).
-
Must possess an understanding of basic networking concepts and principles
-
Must have experience supporting a small group of end users with workstation questions/issues
-
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to system connectivity and software functionality
-
Respond promptly to system alerts, incidents and service outages.

Document troubleshooting procedures and resolutions
-
Collaboration and Support:
-
Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and end-users.

Collaborate with developers, engineers, and other stakeholders to support IT-related projects and initiatives.

Document system configurations, procedures, and processes for reference and training purposes.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5+ years of Red Hat/Linux support and engineering (or equivalent experience).

Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantage.
