Position Summary: The Senior Survey Technician / Party Chief is a hybrid role requiring proficiency in both field operations and office management. This position involves overseeing complex survey projects, ensuring accuracy in data collection, and facilitating effective communication between field staff and office personnel to meet client expectations seamlessly.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Direct and lead field survey team, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Conduct survey-related research, review plans, and perform necessary calculations for construction projects.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff, enhancing their skills in survey technology and techniques, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Analyze and resolve discrepancies in construction plans, interpret various survey documents, and prepare field survey materials.
- Manage office tasks related to survey projects, including data processing, creating reports, and drafting plans.
- Ensure the integration of new technologies and methodologies into the survey process to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Skills & Experience Required:
- 3-5 years of general land surveying experience, both in the field and/or in office settings preforming boundary, topographic, environmental and construction surveys.
- Familiar with surveying principles and theory, field methods, concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Proficient with modern surveying equipment and software, including GPS, AutoCAD, and GIS applications.
- Strong working knowledge setting up, operating, and maintain robotic total stations, data collectors and GPS equipment.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with team members and clients.
- Must possess a valid California driver's license, proof of valid auto insurance and a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel as needed for projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Land Surveyor in Training Certificate (LSIT).
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or related field.
Working Conditions:
- This role requires both office work and fieldwork in various environmental conditions.
- Must be physically capable of performing tasks in challenging physical environments.
- Fieldwork involves various weather conditions and terrains, requiring physical mobility and endurance.
- Travel is anticipated between 0-15%

Senior Survey Technician/Chief of Party (COP)
- Estimated Base Pay Range: $35.00 to $45.00 per hour
- Public Works Prevailing Wage Pay Range: $53.31 to $64.66 per hour (based on project rate determination)
Note: While we are not a union firm, we do work on public works projects and adhere to prevailing wage rates as determined by the Division of Industrial Relations. Fringe benefits for prevailing wage jobs will be contributed to your 401(k) plan or qualified benefits plans.
