JOB SUMMARY
The Automotive department in Forest Lawn, Glendale is in search of a skillful Senior Mechanic. The Senior Mechanic will perform expert-level maintenance, diagnostic, and repair work to a variety of systems including, gasoline and diesel powered engines, (manual, automatic, and hydrostatic drive trains), as well as to electrical, hydraulic, suspension, steering, fuel, emission, and computer systems.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
-
Perform transportation activities to relocate furnishings and equipment to and from office suites.

Perform preventative maintenance work to a wide-range of vehicles and equipment, such as automobiles, vans, and trucks (light, medium, and commercial regulated vehicles), and light to medium construction and agricultural equipment.

Cut, solder, braze, and weld various metal materials and perform maintenance and repair to heating and air-conditioning systems.

Occasionally perform vehicle wash activities that include vacuuming interiors, scrubbing and washing exteriors, and/or steam cleaning engines, mechanical components, etc. As well as, perform machinist activities to fabricate parts for equipment such as bushings, sleeves, and refurbish or construct specialized vehicles and equipment by performing the following duties: Confer with customer to obtain a description of the vehicle problem.

Analyze simple work orders, diagrams, specifications, oral instructions, and general requirements to estimate material needs, acquire resources, allocate tasks, and define project parameters.

Use appropriate protective materials over seats, carpets, fenders, hoods, etc. to protect the interior and exterior surfaces while performing work.

Use manufacturer specifications, blueprints, charts, reports, and related digital service manuals to diagnose systems and components.

Perform transportation activities that include relocating furnishings and equipment to and from offices.

Perform routine safety inspections on new vehicles and equipment.
-
Perform standard quarterly and annual preventative maintenance by following the vehicle inspection checklist to ensure all critical components are examined, including belts, hoses, steering rods, spark plugs, brake pads, fuel filters, wheels, tires, and other potentially problematic areas.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Valid California Driver’s License.

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Education/Training/Experience:

Associate degree in Automotive and Related Technology from an accredited trade school that meet the (LA Trade Tech classes), which is the preferred credential (but is not required).

Obtain internal documented training covering classes/seminars with the (F/L) by the department supervisor.

(3) ASE Certifications

Minimum of six years of expert-level on-the-job experience in commercial automotive and/or equipment maintenance and repair.
A second alternative

Completion of the following classes/seminars from an accredited trade school, which is an acceptable credential (but is not required).

In addition, obtain internal documented training covering the classes/seminars with the (F/L) by the department supervisor.

(4) ASE Certifications

Minimum of seven years of expert-level on-the-job experience in commercial automotive and/or equipment maintenance and repair.
A third alternative

Receive internal documented training covering all of the classes/seminars by the department supervisor.

(5) ASE Certifications

Minimum of nine years of expert-level on-the-job experience in commercial automotive and/or equipment maintenance and repair.

DRUG TESTING POLICY
