The Senior Accountant is a growth-oriented position with a wide array of duties, here at Ghirardelli. These duties range from day-to-day accounting activities to overseeing the month-end close process and working under defined deadlines. The available position has a partial focus on Ghirardelli's Retail and Restaurant business, so that previous experience in hospitality accounting is a strong plus. As a senior role it requires a solid grasp of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), independent and analytical thinking, and the ability to interact with business partners from various departments.
This position is also responsible for fulfilling external reporting requirements of government agencies and business partners, for preparing audit schedules and working closely with auditors. In addition, the role represents the accounting department during special projects, e.g. system implementations.
The Senior Accountant must have a strong sense of ownership, the ability to set priorities, possess excellent organizational skills, and strong attention to detail. Additionally, self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure while managing strict deadlines are required. This position reports directly to the Senior Corporate Accounting Manager.
Requirements:
- Oversee and perform monthly and yearly financial closing and reporting.
- Prepare and enter journal entries for review.
- Conduct weekly and month-end cost center reviews.
- Analyze and report on results and deviations.
- Oversee general ledger account maintenance and reconciliation.
- Oversee bank reconciliation process and cash journal entries.
- Own all activities related to company's store lease obligations.
- Worked with retail vendors to research and resolve any billing related matters.
- Support Senior Manager in special projects and prepare ad-hoc reports/schedules as required.
- Conduct research regarding sales item taxability.
- Prepare annual property declarations for each taxing agency.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies.
- Identify and apply Best Practices to all areas of responsibility.
- Maintain/document policies and procedures manual.
Compensation: $80,546 - $104,700 / year
