VSC Fire and Security in Atlanta, Georgia is seeking candidates for the position of Business Development Manager.
What you need:
- Three to five years in a related business development position. Proven record of finding and acquiring new customers to a comparable service-based business using cold calling, networking, and identifying market opportunities.
- Industry-related work experience or related field to include prior management
- Advanced knowledge of building code requirements for the fire protection
- Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with internal and external customers in a positive and professional
- Conflict resolution, organizational and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate the best possible pricing and discounts with local vendors and
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings and job-specific
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to pass various background checks.
- Reliable transportation, valid State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform in-person visits with
- Visual acuity for reading documents, meters, and
- Clear and effective communication skills for both in-person and phone communication.
- Desirable (but not required):
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
- NICET (any level or category) is preferred and may be suggested to obtain in the future.
What you will do:
- Market Assessment and Strategic Direction: Formally assess market needs, influence strategic direction based on market insights, and make informed recommendations on business initiatives.
- Collaboration and Client Engagement: Work directly with an internal team, existing and prospective clients, strategic partners, vendors, and manufacturers to address market opportunities and identify/define required solutions to differentiate VSC from competitors. Drive the development and implementation of sales strategies to maximize revenue and meet customer needs.
- Client Acquisition and Relationship Management: Identify potential clients and key decision-makers in target markets, including architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Develop and maintain relationships with clients. Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
- Sales Support and Collaboration: Work closely to assist local sales and management teams to obtain and close new business.
- Industry Knowledge and Networking: Stay current on industry trends, technologies, codes, and regulations through trade shows, industry conferences, NICET Certification, and continuing education.
- Partnership Development and Product Feedback: Identify key technology partners relevant to the life safety industry to increase product acceptance and provide value-added services. Provide input of product development to the management team based on client feedback and market insights.
- Budgeting and Planning: Develop an annual budget with the Division Manager for marketing and business development initiatives, including expenses/investments for trade shows, conferences, training, certifications, and technology. Set revenue and profit goals aligned with business objectives.
