Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to lead our software development efforts. This role is critical to the successful completion of our projects and the overall effectiveness of our software team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for managing a small team of engineers and interns, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions for our VCT product.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 2-3 full-time software engineers and 1-2 software interns.
- Oversee the development and optimization of software systems:
- Visual object detection neural networks
- Embedded Linux for Nvidia Jetson Orin
- STM32 embedded programming
- Object tracking and sensor fusion
- Object classification
- Control algorithms for PTZ cameras
- Web Development for use of system analytics
- Gui Development for display and management of analytics and video
- Utilize programming languages, frameworks, and tools such as Python, C++, embedded C, Vue.js, Django, Poetry, TensorRT, Gstreamer, DeepStream, NVArgus, and V4L2.
- Manage project timelines and ensure successful completion of milestones.
- Conduct and lead weekly meetings and stand-up meetings as necessary.
- Foster a culture of innovation, high effort, and collaboration within the team.
- Ensure software development is properly aligned with company goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience, preferably within startup environments.
- Proven experience in leading software teams and managing complex projects.
- Expertise in the mentioned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems, neural networks, object tracking, and sensor fusion.
- Must be extremely familiar with Git/GitHub.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a protected individual under hiring discrimination laws due to the nature of our projects with U.S. military grants.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FAA regulations and airspace monitoring solutions.
- Previous work in counter-UAS, BVLOS Drone operations, or bird strike prevention.
- Familiarity with military grants and projects.
Compensation and Work Expectations
We expect a high level of commitment and effort, often requiring 50+ hours per week, including nights and weekends. This effort is recognized and rewarded through equity in the company, ensuring that you are not only compensated for your time but also share in the success and growth of the company.
