Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for performing minor repairs and daily maintenance of the building and grounds of the Bethesda Campus and NCCF properties. This would include moving of items and furniture and seasonal grounds keeping work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the buildings and grounds for NCCF properties.
- Performs work orders as assigned either independently or as part of a team with a Facilities Team Lead.
- Performs moves (office and residential) as necessary and assists with furniture and equipment relocation as needed.
- Replaces blown and nonfunctioning light fixtures with or without a work order to maintain safety and security.
- Assists the Facilities Team Leads and performs repairs as necessary.
- Maintain landscaping of the Bethesda campus and Montgomery County locations during spring/summer/fall.
- Sets up and tears down conference rooms and/or gymnasium for various functions.
- Paint and repair walls, ceilings, roofs, windows, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other parts of building structures.
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates in all required meetings.
- Assists donors with picking up scheduled furniture donations and unloading and storing it on main campus.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience in maintenance/custodial areas.
- Ability to work effectively with demands from all levels of staff.
- Ability to work effectively under stressful circumstances in order to meet need or respond to a crisis with a minimum of supervision.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work a variable flexible schedule including some evening and weekend hours.
- Ability to work as a member of a team or independently to achieve objectives.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess an attitude compatible with the goals and purposes of NCCF.
- Demonstration of cross-cultural competencies.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle and feel and lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Vision abilities include close vision with a computer monitor.
