We own and manage our properties, including those subsidized by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), ensuring that every tenant has access to safe, clean, and well-maintained housing.
Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Property Manager with HUD experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the Property Manager in all aspects of property operations, with a primary focus on HUD compliance and regulations. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with tenants, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities:
- HUD Compliance: Ensure that all property operations comply with HUD regulations, including but not limited to income certifications, recertifications, and lease agreements.
- Tenant Relations: Assist in maintaining positive relationships with tenants, addressing their inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Leasing and Rent Collection: Oversee the leasing process, including application screening, lease preparation, and rent collection, ensuring compliance with HUD guidelines.
- Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate maintenance requests and repairs, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to property standards.
- Financial Management: Assist in budget preparation, expense tracking, and financial reporting, with a focus on maximizing property revenue and minimizing expenses.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies, such as HUD, on a timely basis.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Property Manager and other team members to achieve property goals and objectives.
- Training and Development: Stay informed about changes in HUD regulations and attend relevant training sessions to maintain compliance and enhance professional skills.
Qualifications:
- HUD Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of HUD regulations and experience working with HUD-subsidized properties is required.
- Property Management Experience: Minimum of three (3) or more years of experience in property management, preferably in affordable housing or multifamily residential settings.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with tenants, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in completing paperwork, reports, and other documentation.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and property management software (e.g., Real Page etc.).
- Certifications: HUD certification (e.g., Certified Occupancy Specialist) and/or relevant property management certifications are preferred.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
