Health Information Management Supervisor
Job Summary:
NYC Ambulatory Healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Medical Records Team Lead to supervise the medical records department. The candidate is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the center’s health information management systems, including but not limited to computers and medical records. Ensures that the center’s health information is maintained confidentially and in compliance with federal and state regulations. Emphasizes consistent adherence to requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Duties and responsibilities:
· Establish and revise management information systems policies and procedures.
· Establish and revise medical record policies to ensure that records are complete, up to date, readily accessible, secure, and in compliance with center policies and regulations.
· Provides training and ongoing education to employees.
· Participates in the recruitment and hiring of staff.
· Conducts evaluations of staff during probation and, at a minimum, annually.
· Maintains current knowledge of state and federal regulations, including HIPAA.
· Collaborates with center personnel to improve health information management systems.
· Troubleshoots MIS problems of HIM operational concerns.
· Participates in quality assurance/risk management activities.
· Provides the administrator(s) and management with statistical data.
· Other duties as requested.
Education and experience:
· A minimum of 3-5 years experience in Health Information Management
· Strong computer skills with emphasis on Word, Excel, electronic tracking, and records
· Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or a related field, preferred
· Experience utilizing info systems in the healthcare setting
