We're looking for an energetic individual to join our Health Care Center's Administrative team as a Medical Records Coordinator/ Receptionist! This position’s responsible for performing various clerical and administrative duties, mainly from Avalon's front desk. The candidate needs to be friendly, organized, fast learning, and self-motivated.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Answers incoming calls, taking and relaying messages appropriately.
- Answers resident call lights, appropriately communicates their needs to assigned staff.
- Completes appropriate paperwork on all admissions, discharges, deaths, and transfers, and distributes appropriately.
- Keeps on-going daily and monthly resident censuses.
- Assists with coordinating admissions/transfers/discharges with other departments.
- Assists Nursing Staff clerical functions including, meeting minutes, faxing, and other duties as assigned.
- Places and receives orders for medical supplies (including forms) and stocks shelves.
- Assembles charge sheets for accounting.
- Monitors the general appearance of common areas/public spaces.
- Maintains and coordinates staffing schedule for Health Center, filling in, posting open shifts, processes missed punches, PTO, and Sick time for all nursing employees in payroll system.
Other Duties:
- Maintains medical files in an orderly manner depending on sorting policies.
- Assembles new charts to include all pertinent information, organized into the correct format.
- Thins medical records when necessary, based on records laws and StoneRidge policies.
- Assembles discharge charts in preparation for medical records review.
- Maintains current admissions logbook, apartment index card, death registry and other required documentation.
- Assist nursing staff with scheduling resident/patient appointments including the arranging and verification of transportation.
- Contacts consulting Physicians and other service providers as directed to facilitate resident/patient care.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience with medical records, record keeping, Health Centers, and/or medical terminology a plus.
- Must be able to concentrate with frequent interruptions, and have the manual dexterity for typing and filing.
- Must be able to sit for up to ninety percent (90%) of the workday with occasional walking; frequent bending, reaching, and stooping.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) lbs. independently.
- May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses, unpleasant odors, and combative behavior.
