Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures, ensuring timely reimbursement.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign appropriate codes using ICD-10 and/or ICD-9 coding systems
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, identifying and resolving any billing discrepancies
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues
- Maintain accurate patient records, including demographic information, insurance details, and medical history
- Stay up-to-date with changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations
- Collaborate with the billing team to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims
- Assist with medical collections as needed
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9) and medical terminology
- Familiarity with medical billing software systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems
