Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Director of Student Support Services. Reporting to the Associate Dean, this position will have primary oversight of the US Department of Education’s Student Support Services (SSS) Program. This position will be temporary Director of the Student Support Services Program.
The Student Support Services (SSS) Program is a federally funded TRIO program. The goal of the SSS Program is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of low-income, first-generation, and disabled participants and help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Provide overall leadership and direction; anticipate complex functional needs; and develop recommendations and solutions for the SSS program, policies, and services that meet academic, social, and/or special population needs of students
- Organize, administer, and coordinate multiple facets of planning, preparation, evaluation, budget, communications, events, records, statistics, reports, and documents
- Develop and coordinate academic year activities/workshops and tutoring including faculty and staff recruitment
- Manage evaluations of programs and services, assess service levels and program progress, and prepare appropriate recommendations
- Research and plan curriculum and program criteria, as well as, supervise, evaluate, and/or support professional staff
- Maintain and enhance program and college-wide leadership activities
- Maintain a student caseload and fostering quality faculty relationships
- Develop collaborative efforts, relationships, and strategic alliances with internal constituents and external agencies, corporations, and other TRIO programs.
