JOB DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: ILLINOIS SENIOR GAMES
POSITION: OPERATIONS ASSISTANT (CONTRACTUAL)
Overview: Senior Services of Central Illinois is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Illinois Senior Games Operations Assistant. This contractual position will support the day-to-day operations of the Illinois Senior Games. Up to 10 working hours per month will be available during IL Senior Games off-season months (Oct.-July), and up to 30 working hours per month available during peak season (August and September). The successful candidate will assist in managing event logistics, communicating with athletes, and ensuring the smooth execution of the Illinois Senior Games events.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with athletes via phone and email, providing timely and accurate information regarding event details, registration, and other inquiries.
- Manage event rosters and athlete database using Fusesport software.
- Provide on-site assistance at Illinois Senior Games events, including working with event chairpersons to coordinate event logistics.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of event venues, including equipment preparation and signage.
- Collaborate with other staff members and volunteers to ensure a positive and memorable experience for all participants.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Illinois Senior Games Director.
Qualifications:
- Passion for working with older adults and promoting healthy, active lifestyles.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with athletes, volunteers, and staff members.
- Previous experience in sports management or event coordination is preferred, but not required.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed during peak season.
- No degree requirement; relevant experience and a positive attitude are key.
Supervision: Reports Directly to IL Senior Games Director
