Lead Access Control and Security Technician Wanted
About the Role:
The Security and Electronic Systems Lead Technician at Tetra is responsible for leading a team of security and cabling technicians to complete access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related projects. This role requires ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, meeting or exceeding quality standards, and within budget. Key responsibilities include assisting Project Managers with daily task planning, managing materials and equipment, executing installations, troubleshooting, customer communication, progress reporting, quality control inspections, and system testing.

- Project Management:
- Plan daily tasks with the Project Manager.
- Conduct safety meetings with the team.
- Lead, coach, train, manage, and mentor the technician team.
- Technical Responsibilities:
- Install cabling, mount equipment, install card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes, and integrated systems.
- Troubleshoot issues with cabling, card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes, cameras, PLCs, intrusion detection equipment, and integrated systems.
- Master low voltage systems, relays, principles of normally closed/normally open circuits, and series and parallel wiring.
- Maintain a general understanding of Ethernet networking.
- Use a multimeter to test for voltage, continuity, amperage, and resistance.
- Possess strong mechanical and computer skills.
- Operate hand tools and necessary equipment, including lifts.
- Document and report progress to Project Managers and customers.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal form with internal staff and customers.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant security experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant leadership experience.
- Familiarity with the following systems:
- Access Control: Brivo, PDK, Salto, Mercury, LifeSafety Power.
- Video Surveillance/CCTV: DW Spectrum, Eagle Eye, Axis, Hanwha Techwin.
- Intrusion Detection Systems.
- Structured Cabling: Panduit, Commscope.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills.
- Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Currently licensed or ability to immediately obtain a TXDPS Security License.
