Position Overview:
ArborPro is seeking a skilled and motivated GIS Urban Forest Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a passion for leveraging spatial data to support urban forestry initiatives. This role will involve conducting spatial analysis, developing GIS-based solutions, and providing actionable insights to optimize urban forest management strategies. Experience with remote sensing and lidar is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, analyze, and manage spatial data related to urban forests using GIS software (e.g., ArborPro GIS, ArcGIS).
- Perform spatial analysis to assess tree canopy coverage, identify high-priority areas for tree planting and maintenance, and quantify ecosystem services provided by urban forests.
- Develop and implement GIS-based solutions to support urban forestry management objectives, such as optimizing tree planting strategies, assessing tree health and vitality, and mitigating urban heat island effects.
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements, and develop customized GIS solutions tailored to their specific goals and objectives.
- Generate clear and concise reports, maps, and visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and project teams.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in GIS technology, urban forestry, and environmental conservation, and apply this knowledge to enhance ArborPro's products and services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Proficiency in GIS software, with experience using tools such as ArborPro GIS, ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex spatial data and derive actionable insights.
- Knowledge of urban forestry principles and practices, including tree species identification, tree canopy analysis, and ecosystem services provided by urban forests.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
