SUMMARY
Primarily responsible for procurement activities involving sourcing and purchasing products and services, comparing costs, negotiating purchase agreements, and supporting sales and production activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and execute purchasing strategy.
2. Create, update, and monitor relevant KPIs.
3. Supervise the day-to-day operations of the purchasing department.
4. Recruit, hire and train new employees.
5. Build a team that is highly motivated, responsive, and engaged.
6. Create effective procedures, processes, and policies.
7. Implement a continuous improvement plan to generate improved efficiencies.
8. Analyze sales forecasts and trends, inventory levels, lead times, and back order status.
9. Ensure that purchase requests and orders are processed accurately and timely.
10. Develop and maintain relationships with existing suppliers and seek new sources.
11. Generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies.
12. Work with suppliers as required to coordinate orders, confirm availability, and ensure timely delivery.
13. Work with team to monitor order status and keep customer service team and sales staff informed.
14. Develop and implement audit processes to update, add, or change vendor product offerings and pricing.
15. Evaluate and implement technology solutions to improve productivity.
16. Implement an effective vendor review cycle.
17. Participate in sales strategy and budgeting sessions to align department focus.
18. Stay informed of the latest industry trends, benchmarks, technology, and processes.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business field
Minimum of 7 years of purchasing experience with 2 years in a managerial role
High school education acceptable if considerable relevant experience
Preferred Skills
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in ERP systems and related purchasing software
Ability to multi-task, analyze data, and solve problems
Good knowledge of purchasing systems and processes
Proven track record in managing supplier relationships and improving procurement efficiency
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to build, motivate, and lead a team
Additional Notes:
Willingness to travel as necessary to meet with suppliers and attend industry events
Starting salary is negotiable and dependent on experience. This position is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan.
