The Baldwin School is seeking a Physical Education teacher for the 2024-2025 academic year. This position requires a strong background in physical education and wellness, as well as coaching experience at the middle and/or high school levels. Additionally, this teacher will fulfill the duties of a Middle or Upper School faculty member, including participation in meetings and serving as an advisor. All candidates should have exceptional communication skills and a willingness to work in a highly collaborative environment.

They will engage students positively, with a growth mindset, and interact productively with colleagues and parents. Successful candidates will make meaningful contributions to co-curricular programs, engage in those duties typical of independent school life, and support the school's mission. They will have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education.
Teaching Responsibilities:

Teach content and skills in physical education, aquatics, and health/wellness to students across the school's three divisions;

Coach two sports;

Provide appropriate safety instruction and supervision at all times;

Develop and maintain long-term and daily instructional plans for each course, using various teaching and assessment tools and strategies;

Integrate technology seamlessly into teaching strategies and practices;

Develop lessons that promote problem-solving, creative thinking, collaboration, and effective communication skills while encouraging risk-taking and modeling lifelong learning;

Actively involve students through group work, project-based learning, exploration, questioning, discussion, and other cooperative teaching techniques;

Maintain professional growth through active participation in school and self-selected professional development opportunities;

Identify student needs and partner with other professional staff members to support all aspects of student life;

Communicate with parents and Division Directors about students' progress;

Share in sponsoring student activities/clubs and participating in faculty committees;

Serve as an advisor; and

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or Head of School.
Required Qualifications Include:

A Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field;

Three years of teaching experience preferred;

Deep and broad knowledge of wellness education, including aquatics and interdisciplinary education;

Exceptional communication skills and a willingness to listen and lead within a highly innovative and collaborative environment;

Displays resilience, focus, and flexibility when solving problems and

Creative, energetic, and positive approach to teaching.
