Job Description:
The Benefits Coordinator plays a crucial role in our practice by managing patient insurance benefits, facilitating communication between patients and insurance companies, and ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental insurance plans, excellent organizational skills, and a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:

Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to appointments.

Communicate with insurance companies to obtain detailed information regarding coverage, benefits, and pre-authorization requirements.

Accurately input and update insurance information in the practice management software.

Educate patients about their insurance coverage, benefits, and financial responsibilities.

Provide patients with estimates of out-of-pocket costs for procedures.

Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies.

Prepare and submit insurance claims for endodontic services in a timely manner.

Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, ensuring prompt resolution and payment.

Post insurance payments and adjustments to patient accounts accurately.

Discuss financial arrangements and payment options with patients.

Set up payment plans for patients as needed.

Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays and deductibles.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including insurance information and communication logs.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements related to patient information and billing practices.

Stay informed about changes in insurance policies and procedures.

Assist with front desk duties, including scheduling appointments and answering phone calls, as needed.

Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure a smooth patient flow and exceptional patient experience.

Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay current with practice policies and procedures.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or certification in healthcare administration or related field preferred.

Previous experience as a benefits coordinator or in a similar role within a dental or medical practice.

Strong knowledge of dental insurance plans, billing procedures, and coding.

Proficient in using practice management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
