We are looking for a HSE Manager in our Taylorville, IL facility
Purpose: The position will plan, direct, and coordinate activities related to Environmental, Health and Safety compliance issues. The position will work closely with the global and business area HSE and continuous improvement networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Communicate site’s HSE and sustainability performance to Business Area and Group
- Provide leadership and guidance on safety and environmental compliance matters.
- Maintain existing Health and Safety related programs and be able to adapt to make any necessary changes.
- Active in Near Miss reporting, behavior-based safety, safety audits, and other leading indicators
- Actively participate in the plant safety committees acting as a resource and guide.
- Develop local HSE continuous improvement initiatives and actively support BA HSE related continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide Environmental, Health and Safety related training to employees(initial and refresher), contractors, and visitors.
- Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001certification.
- HSE incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action.
- Identify HSE related improvements including Capital Improvements
- Aid and support to other departments as needed
- Comply with all Ahlstrom-Munksjo policies
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or other related field
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in HSE field. Internships and fellowships are acceptable
- Microsoft office proficient.
- Exercise a high degree of independent judgment, teamwork, self-motivation and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications (additional to basic):
- Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Experience in HSE audits
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management Programs
Physical Demands:
- The employee must be able to walk and stand on a variation of surfaces.
- Must be able to, see, hear, talk, sit, stand, walk use hands and fingers, bend, kneel and lift items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a hot or cold environment, indoors and outdoors, up to 12 hour duration in a manufacturing production setting, with exposure to working near moving mechanical parts.
- Ability to work the off shifts periodically.
- Some travel is required.
