Senior Staff Engineer
The Senior Staff Engineer helps design building projects, including single & multi-family homes, commercial, and light industrial, with a focus on the internal infrastructure to ensure adequate support for long-term durability. The position performs structural engineering design, analysis, and project administration. The Senior Staff Engineer must have an excellent understanding of math and physics along with good problem-solving and decision-making skills. Communication is also important since this position requires working with a team.
Responsibilities and duties
- Design and/or review structural components for single family and multi-family residential projects ensuring that all projects comply with applicable codes and regulations
- Review blueprints, plans, and change orders to verify structural integrity of materials and designs and perform complex calculations to ensure correct results
- Coordinate with outside professionals (such as designers, architects, and truss companies) as needed for plan changes
- Participate in initial planning and bidding processes, including reviewing environmental factors, government regulations, and risk analysis reports to prepare comprehensive study on all relevant design factors
- Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, and unusual conditions and developments
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budgeted time allotment
- Provides guidance and mentorship to Staff Engineers or Engineering Interns
- Drafts letters and/or reports for clients as required
- Sign and seal of plans (after 6 months of work and familiarization with company standards)
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to type at least 35 words per minute
Excellent attention to detail and listening skills

Must be results driven
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
At least 7 years of related experience required
Professional Engineers licensed in the state of Florida required
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Occasional local travel for site visits
