Eastern Area Agency on Aging is currently accepting applications for a full-time 34-36 hours per week, Medicare Specialist. This position provides access and advocacy for Medicare programs and support services for aging adults and those with disabilities. The Specialist coordinates volunteers, provides education, assists with enrollment and advocates for Medicare beneficiaries. The Specialist works directly with clients answering questions and addressing concerns about Medicare-related topics and stays abreast on changes to Medicare thought both individually and, in a class style setting though Medicare 101 classes. The Specialist also builds and supports a team of volunteers covering all four counties served, including updating staff and volunteers with new and pertinent information.
The Medicare specialist will be provided all necessary training and support to obtain their State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Certification.
This position will be based in the employees’ home with some additional community travel required.
A bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Human Development, Gerontology, or related field required. Insurance experience is preferred but not required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with database experience is essential. Experience working with volunteers is desired.
