ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The purpose of the Florida Center for Behavioral Health Workforce Development at the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences is to support an adequate, highly skilled, resilient, and innovative workforce that meets the current and future human resources needs of the state’s behavioral health system in order to provide high-quality care, services, and support to Floridians with, or at risk of developing, behavioral health conditions through original research, policy analysis, evaluation, and development and dissemination of best practices. The goals of the center are, at a minimum, to research the state's current behavioral health workforce and future needs; expand the number of clinicians, professionals, and other workers involved in the behavioral health workforce; and enhance the skill level and innovativeness of the workforce.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive Director of the Florida Center for Behavioral Health Workforce Development will play a pivotal role in advancing the goals and objectives set forth by FL CS/SB 330. This legislation aims to bolster the behavioral health workforce in Florida, addressing critical shortages and improving access to mental health and substance abuse services. The purpose of the center is to support an adequate, highly skilled, resilient, and innovative workforce that meets the current and future human resource needs of the state's behavioral health system to provide high-quality care, services, and supports to Floridians with, or at risk of developing, behavioral health conditions through original research, policy analysis, evaluation, and development and dissemination of best practices. The goals of the center are, at a minimum, to research the state's current behavioral health workforce and future needs; expand the number of clinicians, professionals, and other workers involved in the behavioral health workforce; and enhance the skill level and innovativeness of the workforce. The Executive Director will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and oversight of initiatives designed to enhance the competency, capacity, and diversity of the behavioral health.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in the field behavioral health, public health, social work, psychology, public administration, or a field directly related to the program responsibilities, or four years of direct experience, and seven years of professional experience; or a master's degree in behavioral health, public health, social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field or six years of direct experience, and five years of professional experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced/master's degree in behavioral health, public health, social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field. Doctorate or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in workforce development, healthcare administration, or a related field, with demonstrated leadership and management capabilities. Knowledge of behavioral health issues, workforce trends, and/or regulatory requirements, particularly within the context of Florida's healthcare landscape. Strong analytical skills and experience with program evaluation, data analysis, and performance metrics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and build consensus. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop innovative solutions, and drive results in a complex and dynamic environment. Experience working with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and/or academic institutions. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in workforce development efforts.
