DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: Principal/Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide translation and interpretation services in Spanish and English to network level and school site personnel as needed. Serve as a communication link between non- and limited-English speaking families and school community. This position assists all administrative positions with difficult tasks and communications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following.
- Provide written translation services in Spanish/English for network level and school-specific needs
- Provide oral interpretation services in Spanish/English for network level and school-specific needs on-site or over the phone
- Provide interpretation in Spanish/English for network-level and school specific attendance and discipline hearings, as necessary
- Provide interpretation in Spanish/English for various network-level and school specific meetings as necessary
- Provide translation of network documents, forms, school website, social media platforms, and other publications into Spanish
- Verifies translations made by others for the purpose of reviewing and editing materials for accuracy, context, readability, grammar, and style
- Compose independently or from oral instructions, letters requesting or giving information dealing with various school/network activities
- Utilize technology to input, create, maintain, or update records, reports, or other related information
- Collaborate with social workers and counselors to establish and provide necessary services for student needs.
- Assists in coordinating parent involvement programs.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in translation/interpretation, preferably in an educational setting
Certification: Not required.
Language Skills: Ability to effectively communicate. Must poses advanced English and Spanish language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Ability to analyze, and interpret general office documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students, co-workers, and the general public in English and Spanish.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and act accordingly.
Other Skills and Abilities: Must be able to transport between school buildings and other areas within the network. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Must have operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Apps. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form in English and Spanish. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all network requirements and Board policies. Ability to utilize technology to assist in day to day operations for students, programs, and staff.

Must be able to meet demands from several people at one time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $21.00 per hour
