ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with external referral process
- Serves as a resource person for support and provider staff
- Schedules, re-schedules and cancels patient appointments both internal and external to the practice.
Review key registration elements with patients during time of scheduling.
- Answers telephone, triages calls, takes accurate and detailed messages.
- Ensures queue is effectively covered at all times.
- Maintains confidentiality and privacy consistent with HIPAA guidelines.
- Performs recalls via phone contact and correspondence.
- Produces weekly and monthly reports for department.
- Performs duties related to the revenue enhancement activities of the practice
- Perform interpreter function when necessary
- Attends meeting, training and participates in committees as required.
- Receives, sorts and delivers mail to the appropriate staff.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Required Experience/Abilities/Competencies:
- One to two years of related work experience
- Knowledge of HIPAA Confidentiality and Privacy Policy
- Ability to organize priorities and complete tasks, projects as necessary
- Demonstrated ability to be attentive to detail and organized
- Effective interpersonal and communicative skills, with demonstrated telephone etiquette and skills
- Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills, enabling effective and courteous work with various groups of patients, staff and providers
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of basic computer skills necessary to use Logician and Microsoft office
- Demonstrated ability to assist with patient and practice problems
- Demonstrated understanding of managed care and other insurance related coverage plans
- Knowledge of insurance plans currently accepted by health center
- Demonstrated understanding of Disaster protocols including fire, safety and medical emergency as outlined by Whittier and Joint Commission regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and establish priorities in the midst of a hectic environment.
- Perform scanning functions for department.
