Description:
Reporting into the Senior Commercial & Financial Analyst, this new position will provide commercial insight and sales analysis for the Academic & Professional Division.
This role will gather and analyze internal and external data to provide analytical support and insight for a variety of business needs. A successful candidate will have the ability to perform analysis and communicate their outcomes effectively, whether that be through charts and data visualizations, or through verbal and written interpretation of the patterns and trends they find.
The Sales Analyst will work on a mix of projects related to sales, our publishing programs, and operations. They will have the opportunity to work directly with the A&P senior management team and play a role in decision-making conversations. This is an exciting role for a candidate curious about how exactly publishing works behind the scenes and, of course, who has a passion for numbers—if figuring out how to use a new Excel formula sounds like fun, this role may be a good fit.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the A&P Sales Analyst is of course to provide analytical support to the Academic & Profession division. This will include a mix of regular reporting and report maintenance with ad hoc reporting and special projects. For example:

Monthly sales reports by subdivision and imprint to support sales forecasting and budgeting by the Academic Sales Directors

Account health tracking, including sales trends and point-of-sale data for key accounts

Commission reports for US sales representatives

Rate-of-movement reports to support print run decisions

Maintain and develop report suites tracking sales in the US and globally

Ad hoc reporting as needed
The A&P Sales Analyst should also:

Be comfortable building relationships both in person and virtually as part of a hybrid team

Possess strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present analyses in easily understandable terms
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
-
2+ years of related experience, with demonstrated interest or experience in publishing

Data manipulation, reporting and analysis skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP or alternatives a must)

Experience of business information systems; specific experience with Cognos, Bookscan and Amazon Vendor Central a plus

Strong communication skills, both written and oral

Highly organized, with strong attention to detail

An enthusiastic problem-solver with a sense of curiosity
