Material Handler (Contract )

You are an advanced Material Handler, you'll lead training, drive process improvements, and ensure compliance and safety. With 2+ years of experience and familiarity with Oracle WMS, your strong communication skills will be key in contributing to a dynamic work environment.
This position pays: $20/hr - $20/hr
Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
What you will be doing:
- First point of contact for questions and escalations from a team of material handlers
- Provide one on one training to new employees, in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and within written job description
- Identify process efficiencies and/or productivity enhancements quarterly, or as determined by your direct supervisor
- Become a subject matter expert, on material handler responsibilities and assist the team as appropriate
- Ability to communicate professionally to all levels within the company
- Identify any safety or compliance opportunities, and provide solution oriented feedback through to completion
- Prepare and ship items using the appropriate shipping method, select appropriate shipping container, pack items for safe delivery
- Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct
- Receives and unloads incoming materials and uses available tools to verify accuracy of shipments
- Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received
- Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel
- Traces lost shipments and/or file claims for lost or damaged items
- Routinely performs administrative functions such as maintaining department databases, prepare routine reports, file shipping and receiving records
- May operate material handling equipment that could include forklift, electric pallet jacks, shrink-wrap machines, carousels, walkie-stackers, order pickers as needed
- Provide root cause and corrective actions for monthly business fundamentals, that fall out of control, or as requested by direct Supervisor
- Provide first level auditing of job transactions and output for compliance with written processes and required guidelines.
- Partner with direct supervisor on coordination of month end, quarter end, or yearend output requirements
- Flexibility to manage competing priorities, professionally and thoroughly
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, written work instructions, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or health standards
- Performs miscellaneous logistics related administrative duties as assigned
- Maintain a clean, safe, working environment and optimize space utilization
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds, without assistance
What you bring:
- Minimum of 2 years of previous material handling experience required
- Previous material handling experience with Keysight Technologies/Agilent/HP is preferred
- Demonstrated track record of success driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience with Oracle WMS, TA-15, and logistic carrier databases preferred
- Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods
- Demonstrates effective listening and communication (verbal and written) skills
- Demonstrated success in a diverse, team-oriented work environment
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Experience with operation of material handling equipment preferred
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM
- Experience with MS Suite of applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- High school diploma or equivalent
