Join a winning team supporting the Neurology department as a Patient Service Representative where you will be on the front lines of the department at our Scripps Rancho Bernardo clinic. This busy clinic helps to support multiple providers in a call center environment, where you will assist with referrals, appointment scheduling, medication refill requests, and miscellaneous inquiries. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with heavy call volumes and enjoy providing world class customer service. You'll be on the front line for creating a positive Scripps Health experience for our patients while being accountable for the following:
- Interacting with patients and providers to gather information for registration. Assigning of Medical Record Number, appointment scheduling, point of service payment collection, document collection and check-out functions.
- Responding to customer billing and payment inquires.
- Escalating billing inquiries as needed.
- Scheduling and confirming appointments according to guidelines, entering appropriate insurance, performing Key User duties with minimal errors.
- Initiating and validating referrals/authorizations.
- Having a proactive approach to customer service by listening to the patient, taking ownership of solutions and being able to identify the need to involve leadership in order to resolve concerns.
This is a Full Time, Day Shift position with a Monday - Friday schedule from 8AM - 5PM, located at our Scripps Clinic Rancho Bernardo.
Required Qualifications:
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of computer applications, excellent mathematical skills and ability to handle monies.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong organizational and analytical skills; innovative with ability to identify and solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year experience customer service or healthcare/medical office environment preferred.
Able to adapt, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance and billing guidelines, ACA requirements, understanding of DRG's, Medical ICD9/ICD10 codes and CPT/HCPC Codes and Modifiers.

Position Pay Range: $23.92-$30.83/hour
