The Executive Director (ED) will hold a powerful vision for what is possible through StolenYouth programs and our partner organizations, bringing fundraising prowess, business and partnership development skills, knowledge of public policy, and experience scaling organizations and with organizational culture change. A successful candidate will possess proven leadership, a track record of relationship management and fundraising, equity acumen and staff development experience. He/She/They will also demonstrate strong values alignment with StolenYouth, combined with unimpeachable personal and professional integrity.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will focus on implementing our mission through the three core areas of Prevention, Connection and Empowerment. Managing a small team to start, the ED will work closely with and lead a committed and engaged Board of Directors to set both a statewide - and eventually national model - for this mission. You will identify, grant, enable and evaluate our coalition partners in their work to achieve their missions, evolve the community coalitions, address core causes of sex trafficking while building capacity for serving the current population of sex trafficked youth.
The space around child and youth trafficking is changing rapidly. The most recent pandemic drove trafficking up and online. Yet we have also begun to see an emergence of incredible programs and technology solutions. This is the moment. We are seeking a courageous and visionary leader who embraces the opportunity to see and make change – powerful, impactful change for thousands of those impacted by child sex trafficking.
*Candidate Qualifications*
* First and foremost, you are committed to StolenYouth’s mission to end child sex trafficking. You are a strong advocate for equity. You lead with a demonstrated and high degree of emotional intelligence, cultural competence, gravitas, and compassion.
* Collaboration is key to how you get things done. You can lead and convene coalition activities, generate new resources, and build strategic relationships with not only the Board, but with fund recipients, law enforcement, and other high visibility partners. You know how to leverage the relationships, strengths, and skills of these partners.
* You have an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong track record of building sustainability organizations/companies.
* You are confident in your leadership that effectively engages with a diverse range of outside partners and the community at large and have the ability to lead through a sense of belonging, inclusion and equity, internally and externally.
* You are known for your exceptional verbal acuity (speaking with large audiences), grace under pressure, professional presence, a self-directed nature, demonstrated passion, and excellent interpersonal skills. You move between being innovative, strategic, and tactical with ease.
* You have worked with nonprofit boards of directors in past, as a Board member, Executive Director and staff member. You understand how to move/grow a board, engage Board members and help take their leadership to the next level.
* You have a track record of effective fundraising, combined with the enjoyment of inspiring donors to commit resources to important missions and visions.
* You are confident expressing your point of view, can craft a vision, and can influence and build support for that vision. You are adept at persuading diverse audiences and are an influencer that builds support for the vision and mission of StolenYouth. You are comfortable with ambiguity and a creative problem solver.
*Core Role Responsibilities: *
* Leadership and Management: Provide vision and leadership in pursuit of StolenYouth’s mission; ensuring the organization has meaningful impact on survivors, at-risk youth, and policymakers. Advise the Board on policy and strategic matters, nurturing and supporting Board leadership efforts to exemplary governance and oversight, and assisting with Board recruitment, orientation and development efforts.
* Strategy and Operations: Lead the exploration and development of our next, multi-year visionary strategy to expand StolenYouth’s current reach and set us on the path for a potential multi-city/national model. Identify the partnerships, funding, and infrastructure needed to achieve the vision, building on the foundation of the current strategic plan, and seeking ways to expand and replicate the coalition model. *ABOUT US*
Our work is inspiring, impactful, stirring, and we hope that you already know about us. For over ten years, StolenYouth has acted as convener, funder, and chief architect of Seattle’s movement to eradicate child sex trafficking by increasing awareness and action within the courts, law enforcement, education, and social services. As a chief architect, StolenYouth has helped shift the perception of sex trafficked children from criminals to victims. As a direct result, for the past five years, King County has prosecuted zero minors for prostitution and instead refers child victims to StolenYouth’s partners for safety, support, and school enrollment.
Looking ahead, StolenYouth aims to both deepen the community’s understanding of the issues; enhance the victim-centered response to the devastating, complex child sex trafficking problem our communities face; and drive scalable solutions that can be replicated to increase our impact. The motivation is simple: No child should be bought or sold for sex. Since its inception, StolenYouth’s fundraising efforts have raised millions to fund a coalition of grantees and partners. Leadership on the issue of child sex trafficking, convening our coalition, and inspiring rapid fundraising growth are critical vital in the Executive Director role, and critical to the ongoing success of the organization.
