Serenity Hospice Care is looking for compassionate and attentive Inpatient Unit Secretary to join our team in the RWJ Inpatient Unit. The Unit Secretary is responsible for performing clerical and secretarial duties at the unit.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares, compiles, and maintains patient and operational records.
- Maintain positive relationships with patient, staff and visitors.
- Assist with arranging services (massage, music or volunteer services).
- Responds to, screens and refers telephone messages and requests regarding patient information and unit operation to the appropriate personnel.
- Assists with coordination of patient flow and visitor security.
- Maintains patient medical records in computer system, ensuring completeness and accuracy of patient charts and records, physician orders, admission, discharge, transfer status.
- Sets up transportation and appointments for follow up with physicians.
- Maintains supplies, equipment, and places orders for service.
- Relay information (communication, complaints) to in-patient supervisor.
- Managing client & guest requests for housekeeping and/or maintenance.
- Represent Serenity Hospice with integrity and dedication.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous medical secretary/admin assistant experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
- Basic computer skills (word processing, data entry), with ability to quickly learn and become proficient using Unit computer systems
- Understanding / familiarity of medical terminology or ability to quickly learn in order to process and maintain accurate medical records
- Ability to multi-task effectively
