Professional Management Healthcare Consultants is a growing healthcare specific consulting and accounting company. Our company’s reputation is built on long-term relationships and based on integrity and respect. We are seeking a Tax Manager - CPA to join our Tax Department.
The Tax Manager facilitates timely completion of the Firm's tax engagements and the preparation of various business and individual income tax and property tax returns. The appropriate candidate will have responsibility for the implementation, monitoring, and updating of workflow and standard operating procedures for the Tax Department. The Tax Manager supervises a team of (3) three staff, providing direction, training, and opportunities for professional development. The Manager role is one of leadership, research, governance and management of production and budgets. Consulting with the Payroll and Accounting departments to produce cohesive client returns is paramount to success in this role, as is ownership of the final work product.
Responsibilities
- Delegate, review and manage staff deliverables for individuals and corporate estimated tax liabilities.
- Prepare and review tax planning projections for individuals and corporate estimated tax liabilities.
- Supervise and review the preparation of business and individual income, gift, fiduciary, and business property tax returns.
- Conduct tax research and prepare memorandum outlining findings and conclusions; draft and publish annual client tax summary.
- Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices; Communicate with IRS and clients in connection with same.
- Maintain knowledge of current tax laws and regulations; Keep management informed of current legislation.
- Lead Tax Department and supply staff with resources to complete seasonal tasks; proactively evaluate and recommend changes to processes impacting Firm compliance.
- Assist Business Manager with departmental billing of clients.
Key role requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; Masters in Tax preferred with CPA certification.
- 5+ years of recent public/private accounting firm experience, including managing multiple tax accounting projects and client engagements. Additional industry experience with business returns a plus; basis knowledge for K-1s and passive income/loss knowledge desired.
- Experience directing and scheduling staff, assigning projects, and managing workflow.
- Extensive experience working with all types of entity taxes, especially S/C-corps.
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Knowledge of Thomson Reuters; UltraTax, Excel, Word, and various accounting software.
